Team BlueFit managed to raise over $4000 this November to acquire funds for prostate cancer and male depression.
The team raised exactly $4242.00 to date! Our BlueFit Mo Bros’ who sported moustaches throughout the month not only assisted with raising funds, but they also created awareness and promoted conversation about men’s health.
It’s a welcome relief for the staff at BlueFit to now be rid of their mo’s, but it was all for a good worthy cause!
Look great at the beach this summer with this tip that will help work your shoulders, back and core muscles!
Shoulder press using dumbbells:
- Sit tall
- Brace abdominals
- Put hands at shoulder height and press directly above head
- Make sure elbows are under wrists and lower until arms are square at 90 degrees and elbows are in line with shoulders
- Repeat this 12 times and do set separate sets and you can say good bye to flabby arms this summer!
Chili Calamari Salad
Don’t feel guilty about enjoying some seafood over the Christmas period as its high in protein and low in calories and cholesterol. This particular recipe is especially good as chili is full of vitamin c and also is great for your metabolism.
Chili calamari salad
Ingredients (serves 12)
- 2 long red chilies, deseeded, finely chopped
- 2 small red chilies, deseeded, finely chopped
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 large lemon, juiced
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 100ml extra-virgin olive oil
- 3kg whole small calamari hoods (see tip), cleaned, tentacles reserved
- 100g rocket, to serve
Method
- Place chilies, green onions, garlic, 1/4 cup lemon juice, vinegar and 1/3 cup oil in a large ceramic bowl. Season with salt and pepper and stir to combine.
- Score inside flesh of calamari hoods in a criss-cross pattern and cut crossways into thick strips. Place calamari strips and tentacles in a bowl. Drizzle with remaining 1 tablespoon oil.
- Preheat a greased barbecue plate on high heat. Add calamari strips and tentacles. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes each side or until curled and just cooked through. Add to chili marinade. Leave to marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes (or longer in the fridge).
- Arrange rocket on serving plates. Spoon over calamari and chili marinade. Serve.
Notes
Tip: You can buy calamari already cleaned. You will need 1.5kg for this recipe.
